What Is Physiotherapy

What Is Physiotherapy

Treatment of Physical Therapy

Physiotherapy primarily concentrates on the treatment of injuries, disease and disorders through physical methods and therapy.

Physiotherapists treat back and sports injuries but also provide therapy for physical problems arising from injury, disease, illness and ageing.

Where medication and surgery are either concluded or in need of supportive practice then that is when physiotherapy through exercise, massage, manipulation and other treatments is used to re-energize the body to recuperate and functioning effectively.

Musculoskeletal or Orthopaedic Physiotherapy

Treats conditions such as sprains, back pain, arthritis, strains, sport and workplace injuries plus reduced mobility due to incontinence, bursitis or problems with posture. Orthopaedic Physiotherapy is also used as rehabilitation following some kinds of surgery.

Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy

Treatment of symptoms relating to the heart and lungs. These include health problems like chronic bronchitis, emphysema asthma, and other cardio-respiratory or heart/lung disorders.

Neurological Physiotherapy

Treating malfunctions of the nervous system. It can include the treatment of spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injuries and strokes as well as Parkinson's Disease and multiple sclerosis. It can also be used for rehabilitation after brain surgery.
